A Week in Maniwa — Quatuor B Recording & School Outreach

11 photos

Espace Hall and local schools · Maniwa, Okayama

Seven works recorded! The four of us celebrate at Espace Hall.

From 27 September to 2 October 2026, Quatuor B spent a week in Maniwa. We recorded seven works over three days at Espace Hall for our 20th-anniversary album, then visited Yatsuka and Kawakami Elementary Schools, Yubara Junior High School and Kashimura Elementary School. These eleven photographs recall time spent shaping our sound together and sharing music with children and local residents. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this week possible.

With the people who supported the recording. Thank you for three wonderful days!
A keepsake from Espace Hall, with the microphones and music stands that shared our recording sessions.
School outreach: sharing the sound of the saxophone at close quarters.
A little conversation between pieces. This closeness to the children is part of what makes outreach special.
An everyday classroom becomes a concert venue, a place to share music together.
A moment on soprano saxophone. I hope our music leaves a happy memory.
At Kashimura Elementary School on our final day, welcomed by wonderful chalkboard artwork.
Children and local residents join in. Their clapping brings even more joy to our playing.
A concert made together with everyone listening. Thank you, Maniwa, for a wonderful week!
